Popdance

Want to keep fit? Want to have a laugh?

What is Popdance?

Popdance is a relaxed, fun, entertaining class for adults who want to learn dance routines to Pop music (and we also get some exercise without realising it!). Ranging from Kylie to Footloose, from Girls Aloud to Michael Jackson, there is something for everyone.

The first half of our class consists of warm up routines to various tracks and the second half builds on a dance routine over 4 weeks to give everyone the chance to learn it before changing to a new one. It is great fun and gives us the escape from our demanding lifestyles and demanding children. Not just for mums, people of all ages (over 18s) come to our classes and the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly.

Some of the tracks we have learnt routines to have included: Wham, Madonna, Kylie, Michael Jackson (including Thriller at Halloween!), Whitney Houston, Britney Spears, Girls Aloud and a very festive Mariah Carey for Christmas!

You can see us in action on the news page - Popdance Does Vogue!

So grab your bottle of water, don your legwarmers and get Popdancing!

The History of Popdance

Popdance was created in January 2009 by Sue and Stacey. Sue, a busy mum of two (who can't dance at all!), wanted to learn some dance routines to Pop music and have a bit of fun, but couldn't find any classes that offered the kind of thing she wanted. She met Stacey (who can dance!!!! and is a great choreographer) and created Popdance! We opened the doors to our flagship class in St. Albans and it proved to be extremely popular. In April 2009 we opened 4 more Popdance classes and in September we opened a further 5! We opened more classes earlier this year with more coming in June and September - so watch this space! Happy Popdancing!
